Australian Standards for Safety Signs

Safety signs play a crucial role in any work environment by alerting workers to potential hazards and helping ensure their safety. In Australia, safety signs are standardised according to AS1319:2004.

This standard specifies the types of safety signs required based on the specific dangers or hazards present in the workplace. It also provides guidelines on the different types of signs and the best methods for displaying them to maximise their effectiveness and visibility.

At Signage HQ, we stock the following safety signs covered in AS1319:

Danger signs are intended to warn of potential hazards or hazardous conditions that could be life-threatening. These signs prominently display the word ‘Danger’ inside a red oval on a black rectangle.
